One of the pictures I drew for the third issue of Loki’s Torch magazine altered in Hipstamatic camera. In plain language I shot my picture on the computer screen using iPhone Hipsamatic X app. It gave interesting results.
(This is not the picture submitted for Torch, it is altered one of the variants.)

July for Loki
In back of my head
Morning plans gone by
Before the setting sun
I didn’t do much for Him
In July to show
This year or the last
Same as same
Only this bracelet
The new one
Made on July the first
I named it Rattlesnake
It coils around my wrist
And it is the one I don’t take to bed
The Snaptun Stone, also known and called Loki’s Sone, is a hearth stone, from around 1000 CE. It was found in 1950 near to Snaptun in Denmark. Because it depicts deity with sewn lips, it is believed to portray Loki.
Here is my small and ‘very free version’ of Snaptun Stone, front and back.
The leftover Sculpey was used for a set of one with symbols and four tiny ‘rune dice’.
March 23 is the day of Full Moon called the Storm Moon, or the Moon of Winds.
Herb of the day for March 23 is the Dandelion. (more about it here)
Dandelion is also called Loki’s Bloom. (more about it here)
She looked in the mirror and have seen only a stranger there. She changed again, and thought how different she was from the little girl, tied down in the box, just couple of years ago. She remembered the hands taking her out, and voice saying: “Sunshine, you are my Sunshine”. It was always her name, it stayed through all the changes.
Sunshine, ageless now, with the puffy white lids like clouds on summer sky, and faint shadows under her eyes. It is hard to say if they came from crying herself to sleep, or if they are places where sun kissed her last time out. She is not that little girl anymore.
Sunshine closed her eyes in bittersweet sadness and turned her face to the warm sun again. And this is when her eyelashes turned gold and she heard the whisper: ” …you are my Sunshine ….”
Fairy tales always meant a lot to me. I grew up with them and they stayed with me in some way forever. First fairy tales told me my mother and father. My mother made some up just for me, while my father introduced the classic ones. My favorite tale to hear was The Beauty and the Beast. It was one of those I was told as far as I can remember. I loved to sit on my daddy’s lap and watched his face as he spoke. He said some lines always the same way. I knew them soon by heart and filled in when I could, or requested not to forget to say this and that just so. I think I was happy child at those times. I didn’t need much and I had it all. I was still the preschool age when one Sunday The Beauty and the Beast was to be read on radio. I couldn’t wait, pulled my chair close to our ancient unit and sat as close I could. And the tale was told nearly same as my father used to, almost to the very end. Here I assume everyone is familiar with this classic tale…
The Beauty returned to the castle. At first she couldn’t find the Beast, and then she finally did, and woke him up with the kiss.
And this is where my happy childhood was over and done with forever.
The voice in radio continued to tell the tale…. the Beast become the prince and they lived …………….
Why? I couldn’t understand why the Beast changed. It was all perfect before, the beast loved the girl and girl loved the beast, end of story. I cried, and when I stopped I was much, much older.
The Beauty and the Beast is still one of my favorite tales, I also love the movie, not the one by Disney though. I love the old black and white film La Belle et la Bête by Jean Cocteau. Until today I don’t quite understand why, for a girl who finds a beast, the happy ending is to make a prince out of him. My little big girl voice says, if you fell in the love with a beast let him be the beast, because this is who you truly love.
